Our History

The Alliance of Pan American Round Tables (AMRP) was formed in Mexico City during the first State Convention of Pan American Round Tables, organized by the Mexico Round Table. Officials and members from the Round Tables of the United States, Costa Rica, Brazil, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile, Colombia, and Peru attended, and it was there that the need arose to form a governing body to unite all the Round Tables of the countries present.

Considering that we needed a name that would identify us as a governing body, the Director of the San Antonio Round Table, Mrs. Ruth Coy, suggested the name “Alliance of Pan American Round Tables,” which was approved by all, and the motto that unites us is “One For All and All For One.”

The Alliance was formally established on October 27, 1944, and its first director general, Mrs. Katherine J. Stone Robinson, a close friend of Florence Terry Griswold, was elected and served for 3 years.

Since the Pan-American Movement began at the San Antonio Table in the United States, and the Alliance was established in Mexico City—the first Alliance to be founded outside the Americas—the Alliance's emblem features the flags of the United States and Mexico at its center. Furthermore, in 2005 it was named the "Dean of Latin America."

The Pan American Round Tables Alliance was officially registered by the Organization of American States as a Civil Society organization in 2001 with resolution 759, during the administration of OAS Secretary General Cesar Gaviria.

This was achieved thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Fabiola Chiriboga from the Washington Roundtable, Mrs. Helena Torres Muga Richards from the Los Gatos Roundtable, and Mrs. Luchy Peña de Elías, Director General 2000-2002. Since then, we have participated in various activities, such as: General Assemblies, Hemispheric Forums, Summit of the Americas, Conferences and Regional Forums.

Currently, the Alliance is made up of 196 Tables and 19 Youth Groups, with a total of 4,549 members.

The general director is Mrs. Martha Agüero Abal of the Pan American Round Table of Santiago del Estero Capital, Argentina.

The Pan American Woman 2024 is Mrs. Yolanda Colmenares de Arriola from the Pan American Round Table of Los Parques, Peru.
